Institutional Membership

What does an Institutional Membership support?

  • The programs of MAR/AAS in promoting Asian studies in the Mid-Atlantic Region: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the metropolitan areas of New York City and Washington, DC.
  • Assistance to secondary schools (especially through the Teaching Asia Newsletter and Teaching Asia Workshops) and to smaller colleges in developing Asian studies programs that can lead to enrollments in undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • The annual conference of MAR/AAS highlighting themes of importance in the field and providing a professional forum for both established and younger scholars of Asia.
  • Assistance to graduate students and undergraduate students in Asian studies, including financial support for conference participation and special undergraduate roundtables.
  • The awarding of annual prizes to the MAR/AAS Distinguished Asianist, and to outstanding secondary students in Asian studies - recognitions of contributions to our field and an investment in our future.

What does an Institutional Member receive?  

  • Assistance in locating specialists in various areas and disciplines in Asian studies.
  • Recognition of institutional membership in the annual conference program and on the MAR/AAS website (www.maraas.org).
  • Recognition at the annual conference and the opportunity to display information about your institution and Asian Studies programs.
  • Link to your institutional or program website off the MAR/AAS website.
     

What is the cost of supporting MAR/AAS and its mission?

  • The cost is $50 for an annual (calendar year) Institutional Membership.
