Marie Wanek Outreach Fund for K-12 Teachers

We are pleased to announce the availability of the Marie Wanek Outreach Fund to support Asian Studies in the K-12 curriculum.  It is supported by income from a fund established in memory of Marie G. Wanek, a scholar and teacher dedicated to Asian studies, and a former president of MARAAS.

In light of complex challenges in K-12 education, the Marie Wanek funds are available to support a wide variety of initiatives and accomplishments.  Recognizing that our teachers best understand how to integrate Asian Studies into their curriculum, the Marie Wanek Outreach Committee welcomes creative and innovative proposals.  We expect to grant 2-4 awards each year ranging from $100 to $600.

Aim and Scope of the Projects:

  2. Support for guest speakers, field trips, film series, etc.;

  4. In-service training for teachers and administrators;
  5. Support for student clubs dedicated to understanding Asia;
  6. Other innovative proposals.
